Decisions: Becoming a Christ-Follower

There’s a lot of confusion in our world today about the true meaning of Christianity. Even in our churches, opinions vary on how to obtain salvation. The Bible is very clear on how to have a relationship with Jesus and how to get to Heaven.

God wants you to know…

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13

…That he loves you

Because of His love for all people, He sent his only son to die on the cross. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-6)

…that you’re a sinner

All of us are sinner in that we disobey God. Sin Is choosing to go your own way versus God’s way. (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10)

…That your sin separates you from God

Sin separates you from having fellowship or a relationship with God. God is holy. (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 4:4-5)

…that you can’t save yourself

People often think that good works will get them in Heaven. There is nothing you can do to earn God’s salvation. It is a gift from Good. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5)

…That God sent his Son to bridge the gap of separation

Jesus’ death allows us access to God. God did for you in Jesus what you could not do yourself. (Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21)

…that you receive Jesus Christ through faith

Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ and what He has done for you already, rather than trusting in your own efforts. Faith is complete reliance on Christ and allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance and willingness to turn from our sin. (John 14:6, Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9-10)
